First Generation | |||
| 1. | Ada G. WEDMORE, born 1873 at Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. Her husband has not been identified (see footnote below) and Wedmore is assumed to be her married name, there is therefore uncertainty about her identity. She is found in the 1901 census at Valance House, North Street, Sutton Valance, Kent. She died in Dec. Qtr. 1922 in the Hollingbourne Registration District (Sutton Vallance?), aged 49. | ||

| v | Gordon G. Wedmore, born Jun. Qtr. 1911 and died Dec. Qtr. 1914 in the Hollingbourne Registration District (Sutton Vallance?). The gap of 10 years, and the fact that one possible father died in 1905, leaves the connection of Gordon to the rest of the family to be in doubt. However, there are no other Wedmore families in the area at that time. | ||

| Footnote | |||
| There was an Alfred Wedmore born 25/02/1877 at Cardiff in Wales who lived at 4 Culver Street, St. Augustine, Bristol in 1881 (census) and living at 23 Medway St., St. Faiths, Maidstone, Kent in 1901 (census) as a boarder described as a Mailman GPO, where he has apparently added five years to his age (perhaps he lied because he was younger than his wife). He died Sep. Qtr. 1905 in the Hollingbourne Registration District (Maidstone or Sutton Valance, Kent ?). Because of the rarity of the name, it seems unlikely that he was living so close to the family above if he was not connected. However, no marriage has been found for Alfred. It is believed that after the Great War Arthur J WEDMORE followed his cousin and wife, Jack and Maude Wedmore who emigrated to Australia and arrived before him. Jack and Maude Wedmore have not yet been traced in England or Australia. | |||
With thanks to James Wedmore for the details of Arthur J. Wedmore and his descendants. The remaining details have been put together based on the common link of Hollingbourne. | |||
